Perfect mid-week meal

greek pasta

I was up to my ears in chores today, so I wanted something super simple to make for dinner. Luckily, I remembered that I had just a bit of feta cheese mixed with herbs that I got at Whole Foods the other day.

So I tossed some onion, lots of garlic, chopped red peppers and olives into a hot pan and spiced it up with just a little red pepper and lemon juice. I finished some hot pasta in the pan with the cheese mixture, and voilá! Delicious Greek-style pasta!

Yummy!

Feelin’ blue

The only nice thing about going back to work on a Monday after a three-day weekend was coming home late and finding a beautiful pair of earrings, handcrafted by Lorelei, waiting in my mailbox!

They were her part of a trade for some beads, and I think I entirely got the benefit of the deal! They are deliciously long and dangly and feature lampwork glass beads in exactly the colors of Botswana’s flag (unintentional on her part, I’m sure, but it gave me a tickle since I studied there during school).

But the best part is the little tinkle sound the brass wires make when I turn my head – sure to provide hours of entertainment in addition to style!

Giveaway!

Thanks for all the great comments on the last post – I’m going to respond as soon as I get a red hot minute…this weekend is D.’s birthday AND my brother’s graduation, so my schedule is packed to the gills.

In the meantime, head over to the lovely Lorelei’s blog to win a pair of my green connector beads! The possibilities are endless with this funky pair, and I’ve really been loving all the ideas folks have for them! Leave a comment on her post for a chance to win!

Etsy Success

Like many, I get periodic emails from Etsy about success and branding and whatnot. I usually have time to skim though before clearing them out of my inbox.

But this week something caught my attention: a “Quit your Day Job” feature about thepatacakebaby. Like many successful sellers, she talked about the importance of relisting and renewing items. But she mentioned, in a sort of off handed way, that her Etsy bill usually runs around a few hundred dollars.

A few hundred??? Mine is usually between $5-10!! That suggests to me that I am not even in the right ballpark. I’m not even sure I have enough time to list that much (I do have a day job, after all), but I’m making it a goal to spend $50 on relisting this month and see if it makes a difference. That’s about 8-10 listings a day, I figure.

I’ll let you know if it helps my sales!

Spring Showers

I’ve been bumping around like a klutz in the rain today.

I got to class tonight (late) and realized that I had lost my flash memory drive somewhere on the way between my car and the building. After scouring the sidewalks back to the car in a light downpour, I discovered the lost item wedged in between my car seat.

In the process of finding it, I unknowingly dropped the student ID out of my pocket and into a gutter and it washed several yards downstream. I noticed it was gone as I was walking back and then had to embark on a second search to find it!

When it rains, it pours…

Can’t wait for the sun to come out again. In the meantime, I posted some new beads at the shop. Love this green and blue seashell bead…the glaze settled into the crevasses and it reminds me of tidal pools…

Who didn’t see this coming?

Stayed up late all weekend with friends and now looking at the computer makes my eyes cross.

Back to posting tomorrow…

Contest afoot!

A fun jewelry maker who I mentioned a while back on the blog, Natha Perkins, was recently featured in Parenting Magazine! Very cool, ya?

To celebrate, and in honor of Mother’s Day, she is having a customized necklace giveaway. Check it out!

Friends

A good friend from Rhode Island is coming visit tonight and I am sooo excited! We traveled around Africa together a few years back, and have kept in touch by sporadic email since then. I’ve probably seen him twice in the past five years.

I can’t wait…His flight might be delayed by weather he said, but I don’t care how late I have to stay up!

Hmm…what will I make him for dinner tomorrow? Better start thinking!
