Works in Progress

lipstick

Or should I say, lipstick in progress.

For my Adobe Illustrator class my teacher has been giving out some really fun assignments, like asking us to do product “mock-ups.” In this case, he had us try to recreate a photo of a lipstick (right) using illustration tools (left). I’ve gotten this far and I’m a little stuck – not sure how to refine the shadows or get the lipstick sparkly.

But seeing as I had never opened Illustrator in my life before five weeks ago, I think it’s not too shabby…!

View from the Ferris Wheel

CIMG0640

My mom, who is afraid of heights, always talks about how she got talked into going on a ferris wheel one time, and what a terrifying experience that was.

I always kinda laughed at it, but you know, I think the older I get the more scary it gets rocking back and forth all the way at the top! (Still don’t mind roller coasters). I had a chance to ride the ferris wheel this weekend at the Jersey Shore, and my, the view certainly is pretty!

Re-entry

I don’t know about you, but going back to work after a long weekend is always tough.

I knew it was going to be a doosey Tuesday when the first thing I did in the morning was drop my toothbrush in the toilet…

Beach Time

Heading to the Jersey beach with my girlfriends for the weekend! Or, as they say it around here, “Down the Shore”!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Running around!

Exciting news! D. and I are on the verge of signing a lease for an apartment and moving in together! But it involves a lot of coordinating, calls, picking up/getting rid of furniture and a whole lot more!

So if  I don’t post and you are wondering where I am, chances are I’m hauling something heavy, arguing over deposits or breaking out the  measuring tape…..

Party Time

party nights

I’m exhausted today! Probably because D.’s apartment building threw a big party and I was up a wee bit too late Saturday night…

Here’s another little party-inspired collage made with my new InDesign skills and the help of some super talented Etsians (the actual party I went to was more of the flip-flops and playing badminton variety, but I was in the mood to fool with some sexy black, white and pinks tonight!).

Here’s a couple of fabulous party picks:

A handmade bra by Hopeless, inspired by Audrey Hepburn. Ooo la la!

Sexy heels with hand-painted embelishments by Crafttastrophe.

An eye-catching white and pink flower brick by Elegantware.

A little note

Thanks to everyone who commented the other day about my little experiment to spend $50 this month listing.

First, to clarify, my idea with this was not just to relist, but to push myself to add new designs every day, something I’ve notice most successful sellers do.

Second, when I said “try” to spend, I already knew it was going to be a long shot. As a matter of fact, I’m already way behind schedule, and I’m only a week in! I find it very doubtful I will reach $50, unless I pick up the pace an absurd (and entirely unrealistic) amount. It’s one of those conundrums: I can’t “quit my day job” because I don’t have enough time to craft and list – because of my day job!

But that isn’t really my goal anyways, I just want to push myself a bit and figure out what kind of marketing is really going to be successful for me. As someone pointed out last week, what works for one seller may not be right for another person or product!

So I will push on with the “experiment” as time allows and we’ll see what happens!

P.S. Speaking of new listings, I added a bunch of little ceramic buttons! Sooo cute!
